Rachel- Senior Office Co-ordinator (part time)

Photo

Rachel has been with Financial Escape since 2005. She recently assumed the role as senior office co-ordinator when Rebecca retrained for other areas of interest to the business and herself. Rachel has worked in Financial Services most of her working life having worked with Phil at Lloyds TSB in the mid 90's before the focus at Lloyds changed from service and needs of the client to sales.

Carolyn – Senior Admin Support and Typist (part time)

jws

Carolyn joined us from Lloyds initial for holiday cover and after a short period away from us was asked to work on a permanent (but part-time) contract. Carolyn is known to her friends as Suzie, but at Lloyds she was called by her birth name and hence it has sti=uck where work is concerend. She has worked for both the NHS and Lloyds as an audio typist, but when typing became secondary to sales at the banks, she was retrained by them as a cashier.
We hope to make better use of her typing skills as new staff take on some of her other admin support duties.

Louis – IT & Admin Support - Mandarin Chinese (part time)

Louis started work for us whilst at school, scanning documents, filling electronic & paper copies and shredding confidential information. During his gap year before University, he worked for us part-time whilst he also started to self teach himself Mandarin Chinese. Since starting at Uni, most of his work for us has been undertaken remotely. Working remotely has been essential as he has been in China at a Kung Fu acadamy training Shaolin Kun Fu and improving his spoken Mandarin for a large part of 2011.

Louis is now in his lat year at The University of Kent studying Film Studies with Mandarin and would be welcome to stay with us when he has graduated, but we suspect his future will lie elsewhere (at least for a year or two). Hence we do need to start planning for his replacement.

Rebecca – Senior Trainer & Educator - German & French (part time)

Rebecca has worked at Financial Escape since the year 2000. She recently changed her working hours with us from full time to part time to retrain to teach and having qualified earlier this year, is now teaching at Churchill House School of English more often than being here unhdertaking an admin role. Hence why we need a full time replacement with complimentary skills.

We hope to develop Rebecca's teaching and training skills within our business with a view to accomodating foreign, law, accounting and finance students who wish to improve their business English by assisting with placements with local businesses from the second quarter of 2012.

To be Appointed  – Trainee Money Coach and/or Mortgage Consultant

 Can you see yourself here?

MoneyCoach - This role is a slight twist on the old trainee "Financial Adviser" role in that the focus will be on obtaining the information required for an adviser to provide advice. It will also require you to coach clients in the use of our "Moneyinfo" software to help them manage their own money and feedback infromation to your facilitator who will put together a plan for the client with you. Your role may also include preparing and presenting information to groups of staff of the employers we operate employee benefit schemes for and is a good way to round your skills should you wish to move to a facilitators (Previously known as Financial Adviser) role in due course.

Mortgage Consultant - You will be responsible for researching suitable mortgages for our clients and after checking by the qualified adviser, presenting the findings to clients in conjunction with the qualified Facilitator. Whilst mortgage qualificaitons are valuable, it is not currently mandatory to have them, PROVIDED your work is 100% supervised by a qualified person. You will however be encouraged and supported in obtaining them as quickly as possible.

For both positions, you will have the following skills; Confidence without arrogance, an element of Gravitas, people skills

You will have the following qualifications; You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE's at C or above including English. Coaching on money issues and advising on mortgages both require some gravitas and whilst not impossible to have this when you graduate, often needs a little time either a step back from the coalface or in an admin role to smooth your edges..... Whilst we may consider apllicants who already hold Financial Services qualifications, we prefer applicatnts to learn our way first and then study.

FS Qualifications can be studied for with any Accredited/Professional body of your choice. These include both the CII, IFP, CISI  and IFS.

To be appointed –  Ethical, SRI & Religious Finance Specialist (Compliance)

 Can you see yourself here?

You will be responsible for maintaining awareness of the above for our staff, whilst also ensuring we have a clear ability programme identifying what can be done for clients and employees, rather than what they can't do. This role may be combined with that of the firms Compliance Officer, which is currently undertaken by Phil Castle.

You will have the following skills; A good understanding of Ethics or Social and Environmental issues or faiths or disability/ability awareness. Preferably all the above.

If this role is to be combined with that of the Compliance Officer, you will have a proven track record in Financial Services and a minimum of the Diploma in Financial Services or Regulated FS (Level 4) Pay will reflect the qualification.

To be Appointed - Senior Paraplanner

 Can you see yourself here?

If you don't know what a paraplanner is, this isn't a job for you now, but may be one you could aspire to. You will report to the Senior Office Co-ordinator, but only to the extent that she needs to co-ordinate your work. You will act as direct support to the Facilitator who has the final say in what happens and when. You will be asked to fully support all junior staff who may refer to you in the absence of any other senior member of staff.

You will have the following skills; Personable and able to work on your own initiative without regular supervision from day one (other than where work needs signing off by an authorised practitioner/facilitator before presentation and implementation).

You will have the following qualifications ; Minimum of Level 3 or above in Financial Services with a committment to Level 4. If you have experince of Prestwood software including "Truth" that would be a bonus, but is not essential as full training will be provided.

We do have a potential candidate in mind for this post, but are waiting for the timing to be right for them.

Abi & Danielle – Business Administration Apprentices

We look forward to Abey and Danielle (pictured) working with us from Monday 9th January 2012 - Their role means they report directly to the Office Manager Co-ordinator who delegates work to them and oversees it. In their absence any senior member of staff will oversee them.

It is hoped that when they complete their apprenticeships, they will remain with us and perhaps in due course, undertake day release to progress to a Level 4 qualification in Financial Services. Should they decide a completely different vocation is what they want, then going on to University and providing holiday cover for our staff whilst studying the subject that really interests them may be possible.

We believe they have the following skills; Personable, presentable and hungry to learn.

Oliver Castle – Office Junior

 Photo

Ollie will be called upon to cover for the apprentices when they are on study leave and to help generally when needed. He reports directly to the Office Manager Co-ordinator or in their absence any senior member of staff. He will help any other member of staff , BUT must not follow instructions which clearly conflict with those of a senior member of staff.

In return, we will try not to ask too much of him before he is able. This is an opportunity to develop his people and office skills and learn to work as part of an adult team.

It is hoped that when he completes his GCSEs, he will either remain with us, completing his A levels through a local 6th form or if he finds the work environment is more stimulating now, we may support him with day release to obtain a level 3 qualification in financial services. This may form part of a structured apprenticeship.

To be appointed – Project work for Graduate Placements

 Can you see yourself here?

This is not a salaried position, but you will be paid travelling expenses and subsistence. If we are very busy, you may be asked to undertake additional PAYE work if you are happy to do so.

You will report to the Senior Office Co-ordinator, but act as direct support to Phil Castle. As part of a small team, you will take your turn at making tea and coffee, but this is NOT what you are here for.

You will be trained along with any other new entrants exactly as if you were joining us as a permanent employee. Whether you are here to undertake a project and we know you will be leavinhg at the end of the project or (hope not), some areas have to be covered anyway, such as Data Proetction, Health & Safety and so on.

As to the project work, the projects which Phil has in mind will appear on our website shortly. They may have very tenuos links to Financial Services and our business or may have no links whatsoever and simply be an area, were it not for running a business, Phil would like to delve in to deeper himself.

Once the project  has been agreed with you and the requirements discussed, you will work largely on your own initiative to an agreed agenda, goal and outcome which may be time limited or not, Whilst it is hoped you will complete the project, if you receive a job offer in your chosen field, we would not like to hold you back. We would however appreciate a smooth handover to a successor if you can. Whilst working predominantly on your own initiative, we expect you to call for help from any member of staff  (recognising we do have a business to run) and ask for mentoring from the faciltator and or your University.

You will have the following skills;

Your Degree subject may not be as relevant as you think as Phil may be thinking a little off the wall with this himself!
